Sigourney Weaver joins Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Defenders

We’re just done bingeing Luke Cage and are now awaiting Iron Fist – but even then, Marvel just doesn’t stop. They’ve just announced that screen legend Sigourney Weaver is set to be the villain in Marvel’s The Defenders.
(Who would she play? My money’s on Viper, barring any license entanglements with FOX.)

The announcement was made at the recent New York Comic Con, where the cast of Marvel’s The Defenders – Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones – gathered onstage for the first time.
“Marvel is honored to have an actress of her caliber and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television.
“Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of original content at Netflix. “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn.”
FIRST IRON FIST TRAILER
The panel didn’t start as a Defenders panel, however. The cast of Marvel’s Iron Fist were there, including the aforementioned Finn Jones. Joining him were Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), David Wenham (Harold Meachum), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) and showrunner and Executive Producer, Scott Buck.

More importantly, they showed off the new teaser trailer for Iron Fist, complete with hallway fight:
There, Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle / The Punisher) also revealed that Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) would be joining him in his own series.
Marvel’s Iron Fist debuts Friday, March 17, 2017 at 3:01pm Singapore time. The drama will premiere with 13 one-hour episodes.
