The People V OJ Simpson exclusively on Netflix in 2017

Emmy nominated drama The People V OJ Simpson will stream exclusively on Netflix in 217, it was announced on Tuesday. It’s the first season of FX’s American Crime Story, and subsequent seasons will also stream on Netflix after their respective broadcast windows.

It will it all Netflix markets except one: Canada. Sorry, eh?

The deal is part of a global subscription video on demand licensing agreement between Netflix and 20th Century Fox Television Distribution. This is the first global agreement – which hopefully means that other FX shows, like the upcoming Marvel series Legion, will also arrive on Netflix for those of us not in the US.

The People V OJ Simpson: American Crime Story was US cable’s most-watched series of 2016 (so far). It stars John Travolta, Cuba Gooding Jr, Sarah Paulson, David Schwimmer, Courtney B Vance, Sterling K Brown, Nathan Lane, Kenneth Choi, Christian Clemenson and Bruce Greenwood.

The series went inside the OJ Simpson trial, exploring “the chaotic, behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution overconfidence, defense shrewdness and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: Reasonable doubt”.

The second season of American Crime Story focusing on Hurricane Katrina will debut on FX next year, before coming to Netflix.
