A Touch of Blue
Another break in the Wednesday Workshop… this time with some alternate theme Khador!
While I like painting red, sometimes there can be too much of a good thing. Because of that, I like having various ‘divisions’ in my Khador Troops. The assault troops are red, the scouts are orange (codename Autumnfall) and the winterguard and related models are white, much like the unbreakable 101st. Unlike the unbreakable 101st however, my white is more of a blue tinge, which serves as a cool counterpoint to the red, and also I suppose looks a bit more ‘wintery’?
As you can see Beast 09 is in this Winter Theme… that’s because ESorscha likes her Winterguard. If you ask where she is… she’s on my painting list, I swear! .__.;;
I absolutely love your winter khador theme, what is your paint mix for the ice blue if you don’t mind my asking?
Haha! No problem! I love to help a fellow patriot of the motherland (I’m assuming that’s what you want it for?) It’s a bit play by ear but hopefully you don’t mind all the vague estimations.
I start with a very light blue (like 1 part ice blue 1-2 parts white, I’d probably lean towards 2 parts blue).
Highlight by adding more and more white. Final highlight should be pure white.
Shade by adding a bit more ice blue to the original mix. The final shadows (essentially the blue-lining) is done by adding about 1 part shadow grey to the mix.
Hope that helped!
