Suddenly I was thinking… maybe some of you guys should go buy your own copy of the paper (this is just in case we get sued or something), but then I realised that we do have tons of overseas readers (hi guys!) and that by the time I inform people about the news, it’s usually the next day. Like now.
And so we endeavour on – and today we have Asian actress and self-confessed sci-fi geek Ming-Na, who took the time out to have an interview with Life! in the midst of filming Stargate Universe. It’s not a long read, with most of it made up of her bio discussing her body of work (and it is quite the body) but she did answer the 8 questions posed to her. For any hardcore SGU fan who’s read up on Ming-Na (or Ming-Na Wen as she used to be known) the answers to most of these questions you might already know, but what’s interesting is her favourite role in her career, which she’s listed The Joy Luck Club. That’s really when she first burst on the scene before being known for roles in ER, voicing Mulan in the Disney animation and acting as famed Chinese pugilist Chun-Li a good 15 years before Kristin Kruek had a sniff at that role.
But perhaps of greatest interest is how big a science-fiction geek she is:
… one of my dreams as a child was to be abducted by aliens and taken to another galaxy far, far away…
George Lucas would be so proud.
