Three years after the release of Insomniac Games’ 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man (our review), our favourite web-slinger(s) will return in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Your friendly neighbourhood Peter Parker is making his return! Joining him is Miles Morales from the 2020 Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Excited? You’ll have to wait a while: The upcoming single-player game will come exclusively to PlayStation 5 in 2023. That is a very long wait.
Still, you can whet your appetite with this reveal trailer. It’s a pretty exciting one for fans, especially with the reveal of one of the villains, Venom. Pity the game isn’t coming out in time for the movie this year!
Tony Todd (Candyman) will voice everybody’s favourite symbiote, while Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles respectively. Insomniac’s Bryan Ihtihar (creative director) and Ryan Smith (game director) return to helm the game, so you have an ideal of the quality to expect.
“While pushing the capabilities of the console will be very exciting, we’re equally pumped to craft all-new stories for Peter and Miles in this sequel,” said Insomniac Games. “Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story, but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask.”
The 2018 game was pretty much the best Spider-Man game we have ever played, and with the PlayStation 5, the sequel promises to be extremely exciting.
Meanwhile, Insomniac have hinted that new abilities and suits are coming, and that more villains will be revealed in time. Stay tuned!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated for release in 2023.
