Dinosaurs come to life at Plaza Singapura for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

  • What: Plaza Singapura presents Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Adventure Experience
  • When: 25 May to 17 June 2018, 11am to 9pm

A DINOSAUR SENSATION

At the preview on Thursday (24 May) we bravely made our way to Plaza Singapura to do some exploring. Passing through the storey-high Jurassic World gates, the first thing that literally leaps out at you is a life-size sculpture of Blue, the world’s most famous velociraptor. Named for a bolt of blue that courses through the surface of its scales, Blue stares piercingly into a parallel dimension as though about to execute a lethal pounce, perhaps in a battle to the death against Indominus Rex. In this Plaza Singapura reality, however, Blue is more than happy to pose with you for your dinosaur selfie collection, his (her? its?) bladed teeth hovering over your vulnerable skulls.

To the right of the imposing velociraptor is a VR booth where you can don headsets and be immediately transported to the lush landscape of Isla Nublar, where you can walk side by side with Blue as it scurries across the prehistoric foliage, engaging in surprising encounters with fellow dinosaurs.

To the left of Blue is the Gaming Zone, where one can pit their frenetic button-tapping skills against the Jurassic World Pinball game, themed around iconic moments from the Jurassic World movies. Use a Gyrosphere-themed pinball to escape the deadly dinos and experience Gyrosphere Valley while trying to set an unbeatable high score.

Directly behind Blue is a Sandpit Excavation Site, where you can scour the sand site for fossils with a trusty shovel. Use the bones to reconstruct dinosaurs which you can trade in to redeem exclusive collectible dinosaur trading cards from the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie. There are 5 cards you can collect each week, so you can collect a total of 15 if you don your archaeologist cap three weeks in a row. Note that you will need to spend $30 in a single receipt at the mall to be able to engage in this particular activity.

Opposite the sandpit is a Lego activity area where you can take photos with the Lego version of Blue, which, due to to the lack of colour nuance in Lego bricks looks like the offspring of Leonardo and a seasick Pikachu. You can also contribute to the construction of a humongous Lego version of Blue, which will take over 90,000 bricks to complete. Here Be Geeks played our part by putting together at least 10, if not 15, bricks. We didn’t want to take the full blame for when giant Leonardo-Pikachu terrorizes your children’s dreams.

PLAZA SINGAPURA SHOWS US LOTS OF THINGS

Plaza Singapura is also staging free screenings of all past Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies at its Outdoor Front Plaza every Friday and Saturday evening at 8pm, starting this Friday (25 May) till the 16th of June. Hosted by official radio partners 88.3 Jia FM and Power 98FM, from 7pm at every screening, the first 200 NSMen and NSFs as well as the first 80 American Express CapitaCard/CapitaStar members will receive an exclusive picnic mat.

The whole mall is going terrible-lizard crazy for the next 4 weeks, with even food joints like Beard Papa selling dinosaur-egg themed cream puffs, Spotlight casting a spotlight on dinosaur arts and crafts, and The Glamourous Factory painting you up with dinosaur nail art. So come down and celebrate if you love dinosaurs (and stay far away if you don’t).

The ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ Adventure is available from 11am to 9pm from now till 17 June 2018 at the Level 1 Main Atrium of Plaza Singapura. All activities are complimentary, except the Sandpit Excavation Site and workshops, which requires a minimum spend of $30 in a single receipt to redeem.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in cinemas on 7 June 2018.
