3 things to do this pre-Halloween weekend

Us here at HereBeGeeks really love Halloween – we’ve even had one of our parties become totally surreal when someone came dressed as a young PAP member – but sadly, without any new releases of Dance Central this year (damn you, Harmonix, for doing the other awesome Fantasia instead) it looks like whatever theme happens this year is going to be a surprise one. Nonetheless, there’s still so much going out around – starting from this weekend – so if you’re up for a zombie haunting on Oct 26, here’re some fun things you can do..

1) Singapore Zombie Walk
Back for its second year, Singapore’s only zombie walk* will be now held at The Cathay from 730pm on Oct 26. The official walk starts at 9pm, but if you get there early (and are registered) you can enjoy Wii games, rock music, and prizes. The theme will be Dawn Of The Dead (the remake) so you know what you have to do. There are tons of cool stuff for registrants, like Airbnb vouchers. You can register here for the grand price of free! That said, you are encouraged to bring 2 cans of food to donate to Food Bank Singapore to help feed the real hungry of Singapore. Oh, and be quick, registration closes tonight.
*After Neo Tokyo Project’s attempt to find a cosplay-friendly Halloween venue fell through, this will be Singapore’s only zombie walk this year. NTP had a Cosplay Zombie Walk last year.

2) Race The Dead – side events
If walking isn’t your thing, there’s also a chance to Race The Dead, if you’ve already signed up, that is. Registration is currently closed, but there are other events happening all around it, such as Zombieland at the Wave House, touted as the world’s first zombie-themed party (seriously? You must be kidding). Actual day prices for Zombieland are S$58, and S$48 if you buy ahead.
Race The Dead will also be having a quarantine area, which comes with a pop-up zombie cafe (rotting flesh tacos, anyone?) and free drinks (“Blood beverage” – which I’m assuming is coloured water. I hope). FOX Movies Premium will also be holding an outdoor screening of the most recent episodes from The Walking Dead Season 4 from 630pm, and that’s one for those of you zombie fans out there who prefer to be sedentary (good luck during the apocalypse!) The race starts at 8am and ends at 8pm on both Oct 26 and 26, the screening is much later anyway so … And you know, I’m kinda really hungry now.

3) The Not So Creepy Halloween @ Science Centre
A “Tickle Your Brain” trail? Held in the Science Centre? Honestly how can you say no to this? Held from 10am to 5pm on both Oct 26 and 27. There’s actually a lot of various events going on, so do take a look at the website above – I’d also keep an eye out for the Halloween Science Show.
