It’s Thor-sday today in Singapore and our only gripe is that its release is being overshadowed by yesterday’s Nomination Day – although there’s always mrbrown to make the connection between the two. So how are we at HereBeGeeks getting ready for Thor-sday?
With some awesome videos courtesy of our friends at UIP Singapore!
Here’s one of my personal favourites, it’s a clip from early in the film that features Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings and lots and lots of Chris Hemsworth.
I love the chemistry between Portman, who plays love interest Jane Foster, and Dennings, who plays witty sidekick Darcy Lewis. Their banter is so good that I actually hope Darcy gets more screen time in a Thor sequel, or maybe even shows up in a comic book! Hemsworth shows his versatility in this clip that not only allows him to get some great macho quotes in like “How DARE you attack the Son of Odin?!”, but also shows off a hint of his action hero skillz and finally his comic timing.
This next clip is all action hero as Thor attempts to regain his hammer Mjolnir, but is confronted by one big S.H.I.E.L.D. dude. Hemsworth is no dwarf at 1.91m, so having these two titans duking it out in the mud is just a foreshadowing of the bigger opponents Thor has to overcome in the rest of the movie.
What’s particularly noteworthy in this clip is the official revelation that the archer Hawkeye, played by The Hurt Locker‘s Jeremy Renner, is going to be introduced to audiences in Thor before his big appearance as part of Joss Whedon’s Avengers next year. In this clip at least, it’s a blink and miss appearance, but it’s nice to know that we’ll get to see the movie version of a most beloved Avenger earlier than later.
Finally, of course, arguably the best trailer for this movie yet. Showcasing all the good stuff you can expect, without giving too much away, this next two and a half minutes would give any action fan shivers.
