With slightly over a week to go before one of their many big panels at Comic-Con, Marvel has released yet another picture from the Kenneth Branagh movie “Thor”!
Undoubtedly to capture the imagination of the mainstream press, this picture, the second released since filming began a couple of months ago, features Hollywood legend Sir Anthony Hopkins in the role of the All-Father Odin. Interestingly enough, it also features the first look at villain Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston.
Sir Anthony is looking extremely regal, as befits the leader of the Norse Gods. I’m glad they kept the eye-patch on – it is a classic mythological story about sacrifice and I’m extremely happy that it is being represented in the Marvel movie.
On the other hand, I’m a little curious why the three are without headgear. In the comics, Loki’s horned helmet is unmistakable and perhaps may be too unwieldy in a live-action movie. However, I do hope that this isn’t all there is to the costumes. The Asgardians were always very imposing characters, and a lot of it had to do with their elaborate armour.
This little snack before Comic-Con is just what many need to get their minds away from the gloomy news about the scathing feud between Edward Norton and President of Production at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige. The panel will be held on Saturday, 24th July at 6pm in Hall H.
