Big Hero 6: Bot Fight hits your phones

While Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar lingers over the horizon, the movie we’re waiting the most for now is Disney’s Big Hero 6. Based on the Marvel comic series, Big Hero 6 will only hit our shores on Nov 13 after its debut in the US – but here’s the mobile game that’s released today (Nov 3) and promises to make the wait a little smoother: Gumi’s Big Hero 6: Bot Fight.

Big Hero 6: Bot Fight (BH6:BF) continues the tale of Big Hero 6 after the events of the movie – but don’t fear: The developers have promised that the game won’t spoil the movie. Set in the town of San Fransokyo (think San Francisco’s Japan Town, except the whole city), Hiro Hamada (Big Hero 6’s main protagonist) has to take down hordes of bots aiming to destroy the city. Fan-favourite Baymax will feature, as will the rest of the Big Hero 6 crew, such as Fred with his Fredzilla suit. Find out more about the movie here.

Developed in Singapore by gumi Asia – the game development company behind the mega-hit Brave Frontier – together with Disney Interactive, BH6:BF is a match-3 game (think Bejeweled) that features a bot-collection mechanic that allows you to upgrade your team of bots (and even evolve them like Pokemon). There’s also daily events and other releases – Gumi Asia says they have at least a year of new content planned out.
The game will be free to play on iOS, Android, Windows Phone devices, and will link up to Facebook for you to team up with friends. The game will also have in-app purchases.

We’ll be taking a deeper look into the game (and the movie!) once we have had a bit more time with it. Meanwhile, you can catch the trailer here, and here’s some video of the gameplay so you can find out more:
