Hideo Kojima has deemed us worthy, and with that he has dropped the “release date” trailer for his upcoming game, Death Stranding. Inscrutable as his trailer might be (as they are wont to be), the release date is fixed: Death Stranding is coming to PlayStation 4 consoles on 8 Nov 2019.
Set to be one of the biggest PlayStation 4 launches this year, Death Stranding will retail at S$79.90 for the Blu-ray Disc Standard Edition. The Blu-ray Disc Special Edition will set you back S$97.90. The Digital Standard Edition will also retail at S$79.90, while the Digital Deluxe Edition will cost S$108.90.
If you want a Collector’s Edition … you’re going to be left stranded for now: Details will come at a later date. But take a look at what you’re going to get.
WHAT’S DEATH STRANDING ABOUT?
Well, there’s the trailer above, and you can probably make some guesses. We’ll let director Hideo Kojima spell it out:
People have created “Walls” and become accustomed to living in isolation.

“DEATH STRANDING” is a completely new type of action game, where the goal of the player is to reconnect isolated cities and a fragmented society. It is created so that all elements, including the story and gameplay, are bound together by the theme of the “Strand” or connection.
As Sam Porter Bridges, you will attempt to bridge the divides in society, and in doing create new bonds or “Strands” with other players around the globe. Through your experience playing the game, I hope you’ll come to understand the true importance of forging connections with others.

DIGITAL PRE-ORDERS OPEN
Digital pre-orders have started, announced Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore Private Limited (SIES). You’ll have the option to choose between the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition – both of which include the full game and bonus incentives for early purchase. More information will come for the Special Edition and Collector’s Edition, which will include full game and early purchase bonus incentives.
Pre-orders also receive special gold versions of in-game items that you can otherwise earn through gameplay:
- Gold “Sam” Sunglasses
- Gold Hat
- Gold Speed Skeleton: Increase the speed of Sam’s movement when equipped
- Gold Armor Plate: Increase protection against any damage Sam takes
These pre-order bonus will also be included as early purchase bonus for Disc users as well.
Pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe Edition for SGD 108.90 and will net you all digital pre-order incentives offered via the Standard Edition. The Digital Deluxe also includes:
