CONFIRMED: Andy Diggle coming for STGCC 2012

LATEST UPDATE: As of 10pm, 2nd August 2012, it has been confirmed via Twitter that writer Andy Diggle will be in Singapore in September for STGCC! We’re excited. Very, very excited.

Original post follows:

In the wee hours of this morning, a certain writer nonchalantly asked a question.

It would probably have gone unnoticed had not an eagled eyed @Moxy_Tod spotted it and RTed it earlier this afternoon. At about the same time, his fellow comic book pros Gary Erskine, Kieron Gillen, Matt Fraction and Leinil Yu replied to his tweet with nothing but great reviews for our local convention.

Bottom line is, British writer Andy Diggle, fresh off his exclusive contract with Marvel, has all but confirmed that he’s headed down to our shores for this year’s Singapore Toy, Games and Comics Convention 2012. The critically acclaimed writer is arguably most famous for his work on The Losers, Green Arrow: Year One, Daredevil: Reborn and Vertigo’s Rat Catcher, which we’ve reviewed before, along with his latest Marvel work, the “modern Western” Six Guns.

So… why should you be excited about this? Because in addition to his existing work, Diggle is also the upcoming writer for IDW Comics’ Doctor Who, starting in September, which also features multiple Eisner-winning Fables’ artist Mark Buckingham on art! This August, in Doctor Who Annual 2012, catch a prelude to their upcoming work on the new ongoing series.

For you collectors out there, check out Silent Dragon TPB, his creator-owned work published under the Wildstorm imprint with fellow STGCC 2012 guests Leinil Yu and Gerry Alanguilan! Getting all their autographs has never been easier.

For aspiring comic book writers, this is your chance to get into the mind of someone who helped to redefine legendary British comic 2000AD back when he was an editor before moving into writing full-time. This is a man who has been exclusive to DC, then Marvel, and has now chosen to strike out on his own.

The Singapore Toy, Games and Comics Convention will be moving to Marina Bay Sands for the first time on the weekend of September 1-2. is proud to be a Supporting Blog of STGCC for the third year running.

His teenage years spent nursing a giant man-crush on Steve Rogers, the first Captain America, Peter naturally found himself drawn to many other heroes who depicted strong, manly qualities, including the honour-bound warrior Worf, first Klingon in Starfleet, and the muscular rock hard abs of The Thing.
