Cybertron Con rolls out in Singapore!

If you haven’t heard, Singapore is hosting the world’s second ever Cybertron Con! It’s going to be huge not just because it’s for the movies (which admittedly would attract quite a lot of fans) but because all of us other Transfomers fans (cartoons, comics, toys) actually have something to look forward to. Yes, it’s going to be that cool, and with any luck you can pretend the movies are just a small portion of the Fortress Maximus that is Transformers (good luck with that, since Transformers 4 is more or less confirmed so there’s going to be something about it, I’m sure). If you want to find out more about what we think of Transfomers, you can check out our movie review here, and our ride review here.

Cybertron Con promises to be amazing thanks to it being full-featured for all kinds of Transformers fans. It’s going to happen from March 11-14 at the Compass Ballrooms at Resorts World Convention Centre in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), Singapore. There have already been a few events all over Singapore to inform the public, with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron marching their way across town. It’s a good thing they aren’t up to any Bay-hem, you wouldn’t want to watch that, would you?

So if you’re free tomorrow, and want to catch Optimus Prime and Bumblebee (or as they call them, OP and BB) around town, they’ll be out and about checking out various famous food haunts in Singapore. I guess if their joints need oiling they can check out some char kway teow. They’ll be at, for half an hour each time, Old Airport Hawker Centre (930am), Maxwell Rd Hawker Centre (1245pm) and at Raffles Place (345pm). They’ll also be out and about Chinatown at 2-3pm, where they will be having a TRISHAW RIDE. YES TRANSFORMERS IN TRISHAWS. Send us pictures if you see them!

But what about the convention itself? There’s going to be a 22-feet-tall Optimus Prime statue (the one with fat lips) that’s bound to be the centrepiece of the show. Art fans will get art lessons from Hasbro artists themselves, a Fastest Fingers First competition where you can compete with others to see who can transform a, well, Transformer the fastest (were you expecting Go-Bots?). Best of all, Hideaki Yoke, lead designer of Transformers at Takara Tomy is going to be down. I don’t know about you, but this guy is a legend, designing Transfomers (like Perceptor) from way back then. I don’t have many of the toys right now, but he has my utmost respect. And his hero? Stan Lee. How cool is he?

There’s also going to be an exhibit celebrating 27 years of Transformers, with toys from the beginning, artwork, Nerf battle zones, and toy exclusives. Yes! Everything from Gen 1, to Beast Wars to those movie things. Also really cool: Dioramas depicting famous scenes from Transformers history – I want to see a Unicron one.

Tickets for the con are priced at S$12 for a Day Pass and S$68 for a four-day VIP Pass, and the VIP pass comes with 4-day access, a photo op with OP, a lanyard and a Kre-On figure. If you’re interested in staying close to the convention area, you can get the Transformers Cybertron Con The Epic Battle Package for only S$998 (a S$100 discount), and it gets you a 3D2N stay at a hotel, entrance into Universal Studios for a day, tickets to Cybertron Con and the Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium – as long as you book before March 1. You can get the tickets at the Resorts World Sentosa website, at USS/RWS itself or by calling +65 6577 8888.

You can also get a battle pass, which gets you into Cybertron Con and Universal Studios, will set you back S$77 for adults, S$62 for kids and S$48 for senior citizens. Tickets are expected to SELL OUT, so get them soon! (And don’t forget to pre-register for events).
