Netflix is taking another step into the variety genre, and this time they’re bringing out the big guns with Korean variety series Busted! The 10-episode season premieres 4 May 2018 on Netflix, with 2 episodes released each week. The show features an all-star cast including Running Man’s Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Kwang-soo. Joining them are veteran host Kim Jong-min, K-pop stars Sehun of Exo and Kim Se-jeong of Gugudan, and actors Ahn Jae-wook and Park Min-young. Each episode will also feature guest stars, and you can catch a glimpse of them in the trailer above.
In Busted!, The 7 main cast members play bumbling detectives that set out to solve a different mystery in each episode. Netflix also hint that with each new case, “they get one step closer to solving the biggest mystery of all”. It sounds like a big deal, so it’s a good thing that they have some very experienced producers helming the show: Jang Hyuk-jae, Cho Hyo-jin, and Kim Ju-hyung of Company SangSang. Cho is best known as one of the creators of Running Man and a producer of X-Man in Korea, so there’s a good track record there.
According to my wife (with help from Soompi), the guest stars are actor Yoo Yeon Seok, actor Park Hae Jin (Cheese In The Trap), Shinhwa’s Lee Min Woo, actor Seo Kang Joon (Cheese In The Trap), actor Gong Myung (Drinking Solo), actor Hong Jong Hyun (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo). Definitely not z-list influencers!
