Warmachine Events: The Longest Night

Privateer Press’ Longest Night Tournament was supposed to be a Halloween event, but it’s nice to be able to hold events when it’s best for the players around. And besides, technically the winter solstice is the longest night, so it’s nice to have a Christmas event… even if for some reason Zombies are involved…

Everyone loved the food that was involved (some generous sod even brough mince pies for everyone), and Paradigm Infinitum was kind enough to lift the ‘no-food’ stipulation for the sake of this very special event. Probably helped that we bribed them with food too. Lol.

Amazingly enough we could also squeeze in 5 tables into the area. Maybe next time we can squeeze in even more!

Also, it was interesting to have the zombies spill out of tents, huts, towers and many more different pieces of terrain. Even if I wish that we had more terrain. The boards looked little bit bare.

The thralls are NOT TO BE TRIFLED WITH however. I thought they’d just be zombies, but they took down Morghoul, Molik Karn, and quite a few parts off of Khador Jacks. I think I had eButcher almost die to them too. Boosted POW11s kill casters (and locks).

In the end though Khador took top dog, while skorne and piggies finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

I think overall the event was a huge success. More people than we would’ve expected turned out to throw some dice, and almost everyone brought food (we expanded it from just candy because not everyone has a sweet tooth, and food is more christmassy anyway). Everyone loved the relaxed atmosphere of the event, and I guess it’s great to have some fun events together with some competitive events like Hardcore or Steamroller, if only to cut down on player burnout. Besides, not everyone is in gaming for the same reasons, and it’s good to have a wide range of events to appeal to everyone.

If you’re interested in checking out more Warmachine Events in Singapore, we’ll be holding a Journey man league (well more like a seris of mini tournaments) for the run-up to Sporecon 2012, so stay tuned for details to that, and if you’re interested in anything else we have groups on facebook that you may be interested. Games and gamers are available in Paradigm Infinitum and Games Garage, so feel free to go and play wherever suits you best. Or play at both! =)
