NLB goes geek with Manga and Miniature Madness
Not to say that our National Library (NLB) isn’t geeky, in fact, that’s how most of us started our geekdom – breathing in the fine musky, dusty smells of old books and our brains yearned to be filled with knowledge. Now, if you want to translate those book smarts into practical knowledge, the NLB is ready to give you that chance: They’re having manga art and mini painting classes – perfect for you to get started on your geek career.
First up we have “Draw Your Own Manga: An Introduction To The World Of Manga And Anime Art” which takes place May 12 (i.e. tomorrow) or June 16 at the Bedok and Ang Mo Kio libraries respectively. No news on who’s leading the course, but since they featured Andy Choo’s Captain Singapore up there, maybe it’s going to be him – but it’s definitely likely to involve iNKFusion.
Next up we have Sonny Sy presenting “Miniature Madness: An introduction to the Art & Craft of Miniature Modelling“, on May 12 and May 19 at the Jurong and Bishan libraries respectively. He’s not just going to show you how to paint them, but also how to build and sculpt them. If the guides by Kakita aren’t enough, maybe some hands on help will do the trick.
As of writing there’s still space, so if your Saturdays are free, this is something to consider!
