Upcoming Conventions in Singapore

We’ve not had the chance to do this yet, so why not now? It’s Good Friday, and I bet some of you will be planning your schedule for the months ahead, so let’s just go through what’s coming up in the next few months! It’s not exhaustive, but hopefully we managed to touch on some things that will pique your interests.

28-29 May 2011

First up! We have Spore-Con, Singapore’s very own analog gaming convention. This yeah it’s once again going to be at Pasir Ris East Community Club, where last year we had a nice sized hall and meeting room. This year promises once again to be a blast – we’ll update as more news turns up! Find coverage of last year’s Spore-Con here!

Singapore ComiFest
4-5 June 2011

Next, Singapore Comifest returns for a second shot this year, moving a whole new location after certain complaints about the location the last time. Held at the Civil Service Club in Bukit Batok, this huge shift in location promises to be interesting, but it definitely feels unconventional. I’d say the move comes with its own pros and cons, but I wonder if they should have had more confidence to hold a few rooms in Suntec just by themselves.

Singapore Toys, Games and Comic Convention
20-21 August 2011

Finally, arguably the biggest of them all – STGCC. Shortened from 4 days to 2, one wonders what exactly is going on behind the scenes right now. Hopefully at the very least they’ll be able to pack Sunday instead of having the comic professionals touring the island. This clashes with the Baltimore Comic-Con in the US, so with certainty I can say that we will NOT be seeing Jason Aaron, Charlie Adlard, Frank Cho, David Finch, Ron Frenz, Mike Grell, Barry Kitson, Bob McLeod, David Petersen, Brandon Peterson and Stan Sakai. We’ll keep you guys updated on this! Find coverage of last year’s STGCC here.

The technological backbone of, Alvin’s machinist-nature also ensures that this blog remains alive when the unpredictable Murphy’s Law comes into effect.
