Linksys Velop MX4200 WiFi 6 router comes with StarHub-exclusive features
You can get it as a set elsewhere, but you'll miss out

Looking for a mesh-ready WiFi 6 router? The new Linksys Velop MX4200 comes free to new and re-contracting StarHub 2Gbps Fibre Broadband subscribers. Oh, and subscribers also get 12 months of Disney+ free!
Under the StarHub-Linksys partnership, the router is known as the StarHub Smart WiFi Pro. One unit should be enough to cover most HDB homes. However, subscribers can also buy additional units at S$288 each, or S$12 a month for 24 months. The Linksys Velop MX4200 comes with Linksys’s Intelligent Mesh technology, so you can connect more than one router into a wider network. The WiFi 6 router promises more than 4 times the speed and capacity than WiFi 5 routers.
StarHub customers will get 2 features unlocked on their routers: Gaming Prioritisation and Dynamic Frequency Selection. Gaming Proritisation is easy to set up: Just choose the device you want to boost, and your gameply will be smoother than before. Dynamic Frequency Selection also helps you reduce clashes with your neighbours’ WiFi networks, ensuring smooth connectivity around your home.
With the 2 features, Linksys says that the functionality of the Velop MX4200 will even outdo the flagship Velop MX5300. Big claims, though we will have to wait and see if that’s the case.

Already a subscriber?
If you’re already a subscriber, or nowhere near recontracting, you can top up S$288 (or S$12 a month for 24 months) to get yourself a unit. That’s a pretty hefty discount on top of the retail price of S$399.
If the 2Gbps plan is too rich for your tastes (it can be a bit much for most regular users), subscribers to other StarHub plans can get it at S$288 per unit, or S$12 a month for 24 months.
However, if you just want the router, Linksys says you can get them at your favourite retailers, starting at S$799 for a set of two. However, this also means you can’t just buy them singly, even if you pay the full S$399 – that’s only available to StarHub subscribers. One more thing: Buying from 3rd-party retailers means that you won’t get the Gaming Prioritisation and Dynamic Frequency Selection modes.

I’ve got to admit: With my current fibre subscription ending soon, this is pretty tempting.
