International Cosplay Day Singapore gets EPIC

Singapore celebrates International Cosplay Day this Aug 24 with our very own International Cosplay Day Singapore (ICDS), organised by the fine folk at Neo Tokyo Project. But this year’s installment comes with something more, well, epic: The launch of the EPIC lifestyle card.

The EPIC card provides perks and discounts at partner stores and venues such as Basheer Graphic Books, Camwerkz, Cosmoprof Academy, Epic Loot, Gaming Era, Invasion! Toys And Comics and others. Whether you’re into cosplay, gaming or pop culture (or food), this card looks to be a big boon. You can check out the list of participating stores here.

Named EPIC because it’s for “Enthusiasts, Photographers, Illustrators and Creators”, the card will be available for free for those who purchase a Premium ticket (ticketing details here) or complete the ConQuest challenge – cosplay bingo where you have to take selfies with the elements listen in the bingo card to score. Entry to ICDS is free, so if you’re not going to stump for a Premium ticket or spend time taking selfies (why not?), you can get the card for just FIVE BUCKS.

That’s a steal.

At ICDS, Blizzard will also be showcasing the alpha builds of Heroes Of The Storm, Blizzard’s own take on the MOBA genre. I’ve already given the game a few goes (not as much as I’d like), and I got to say it might be worth your while to spend some time here if you haven’t got on the alpha yet. This will be thanks to local distributors Asiasoft, and the games will be run on Aftershock gaming laptops.

Asiasoft is also bringing along cosplayer Kamui from Germany, who was 2013’s grand champion in the BlizzCon Costume Contest. She will be judging the cosplay contest, as well as hosting an armour making panel.

Joining Kamui will be Australia-based Dat-Baka Cosplay and cosplay photographer extraordinaire Jay Tablante, who we’ve met before.

Into its third year, ICDS has grown from strength to strength, and this year’s promises to be the biggest one yet. Held on the last weekend of August, over 5,000 fans are expected to throng the halls of *SCAPE at Orchard Road. This year’s show is split into three levels with multiple experience zones with tons of activities.

The show will be held Aug 24 from 11am to 8pm. So if you want to check out some great local cosplay, learn about cosplay, or just plain geek out this weekend, you know where to go.
