Celebrate the Force on Star Wars Day in Singapore

May the 4th marks a very special day for Star Wars fans, but since this year’s Star Wars Day falls on a Monday (groan) the Force has decided to make up for it by making this year’s festivities a two-day version! Taking place this weekend on May 2 and 3 at Suntec City, Star Wars Day promises to be way, way better than any Wookiee Life Day (or at least, fun for the whole family).

Set to take place at the east wing atrium of Suntec City, the event will be open to the public from 11am to 9pm on Saturday, and 11am to 7pm on Sunday. It will feature a whole lot of stuff:

  • Appearances by Singapore’s own 501st Legion & Rebel Legion
  • Performances and LightSaber training by the ultra-cool guys from FightSaber
  • Exclusive goodie bags for the first 100 attendees each day
  • A cosplay parade just for kids on Sunday
  • Star Wars-themed caricatures by Jashorn Lee
  • “White space bandits” Band of Doodlers sketching away
  • A toy photography workshop by Wonder Factory
  • Demo of the X-Wing games
  • Stage games and quiz
  • Merchandise and collectibles on sale

Phew. Nearly ran out of breath there! Good thing my ventilator is still working. To top off all the fun, attendees can do their part for charity. 10% of takings from the sale of collectibles will be donated to charity, and you can also bring home the caricatures and sketches by making a donation.

Disney says all proceeds from various activities at the event will go to “Make a Wish Foundation Singapore”, and under the auspices of the “Care & Share” movement led by Community Chest and in line with the SG50 celebrations, the Singapore government will also match the donations garnered at the event, dollar for dollar.

Here’s a breakdown of events for the two days:

This comes right after The Star Wars: The Force Awakens Celebration Global Fan Event in Singapore during which close to 400 fans gathered at Shaw Lido to watch the live-stream of the first panel of Star Wars Celebration. And then screamed and cheered while watching the super cool Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer in IMAX – twice. And by now all of us remember this moment:
