UPDATE: Alex Ross not in Singapore for DC Appreciation Day

UPDATE: The little bird was misinformed, sadly, and Alex Ross will not be headed to Singapore. That said the art exhibition will still go on, as will the rest of the event! We hear that they’re inviting a “big-name” Batman artist to come down, but let’s also file this as a rumour too.
Original post continues below:
So a little bird told us during the Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention that legendary artist Alex Ross himself will be coming to Singapore for the upcoming DC Appreciation Day, to be held on 4 and 5 November, 2017 at the D’Marquee, Downtown East.
But let’s be clear – DC Appreciation Day is definitely happening. A fan-run event by SCC Square, Singapore Cosplay Club, it’s meant to celebrate the best in DC Comics, be it comics, animation, movies, toys and TV.
- What: DC Appreciation Day
- When: 4 and 5 November, 12pm-6pm
- Where: D’Marquee, Downtown East
- How much: Free entry
The event will feature many different areas, including an Alex Ross art exhibition and a cosplay star.
Alex Ross Art Exhibition
The Art of Alex Ross Exhibition will be part of the event, and it’s done in partnership by Alex Ross himself. While this is by no means a confirmation that the legendary artist will be in town, there are enough rumours going around that it will be so.
One of the event exclusives will be Alex Ross’s Liberty and Justice: Trinity (Matted Lithograph), featuring Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman (of course). Limited to 200 pieces, each piece comes hand-numbered, and with a certificate of authenticity. Prices for the lithograph, measuring 14×17 in size, start from S$100. You can pre-order it here.
- Matted Lithograph(Normal): S$100 (pre-order); S$120 (on-site)
- Matted Lithograph(Printer’s Proof): S$150 (pre-order); S$180 (on-site)
- Matted Lithograph (Artist’s Proof): S$200 (pre-order); S$240 (on-site)
Cosplay Star
It’s not a comic-book event these days without cosplay, and for DC Appreciation Day, Pion Kim from South Korea will be dressed as Harley Quinn for both days. It’s probably going to be the same costume she wore for Asia Pop Comic-Con earlier this month, and you can check out her other cosplays here.
If you’re into cosplay yourself, there will be a DC cosplay runway on both days, and you can sign up here. Do note that only DC characters are allowed.
There will also be merchandise on-site, with toys on display. And if you’re interested, you can also sign up to set up your own booth – but only DC-related art and merchandise is allowed.
As for whether Alex Ross IS coming to Singapore, there’s this:
Not a confirmation per se, but not a denial either …
