Avengers: Infinity War destroys The Avengers to be Singapore’s biggest movie of all time
Avengers: Infinity War (our review) has broken another record: This time it is Singapore’s #1 movie of all time. In just two and a half weeks – and in its third weekend, the movie has grossed S$14 million. That result also makes it the first film in Singapore history to cross the S$14 million mark.
The movie it beat? A little 2012 movie known as The Avengers, which grossed S$13.7 million in its lifetime. And in third place, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, with S$13.1 million. Slaying 2 Avengers movies? Thanos must be pleased. (Also, Singapore really loves them Marvel movies, eh?)
No. | Title | Box Office Sales |
#1 | Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War (2018) | S$14.3 million* |
#2 | Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) | S$13.7 million |
#3 | Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) | S$13.1 million |
*As of 14 May 2018
Previously, Avengers: Infinity War took the record for the biggest opening weekend of all time in Singapore, with a S$6.12 million take in their 5-day opening weekend, and a take of S$5.26 million in the 4-day industry opening weekend.
Avengers: Infinity War is also the biggest movie in 2018 so far, breaking the record of Black Panther, which grossed S$9.7 million. With many more weeks to go, Avengers: Infinity War might even break the S$15 million barrier. Deadpool might have something to say about that, but with Deadpool 2 rated R21, Avengers: Infinity War might just go on … for infinity.
Or until next year, with the new Avengers movie.
