HereBeGeeks’ Halloween Wrap-Up: Now Featuring Dance Central 2!

Halloween is not exactly seen as a Singaporean past time, but in the past few years we’ve seen a growing level of participation, especially around those areas that have a slightly higher percentage of expat residents. We’ve been lucky enough to be able to participate in some of the festivities for the past few years, and this year we bring you a taste of what happened when Halloween came by last week!

Halloween is fun, but themes ramp up the awesomeness by a factor of ten… and… when you’ve got a theme as awesome as Dance Central? Featuring the likes of Angel, Miss Aubrey (x2), Oblio, McCoy and Mo?

You get mobbed by kids!

Here’s a quick shot of what some of us were doing to draw in the kids; Dance Central flashmobs! The candy helped too, of course.

While there was the odd costume-fail (we really hate people who trick and treat without costumes and carrying plastic bags), we have to say that the kids stepped up their game this year; we had really good costmes, the creatively ghetto and the ultimate in geek callouts: a Doctor Who outfit! Only problem… no fez, and no Amy. 🙁

A quick run around the neighbourhood also produced quite a few really decked out houses (and one creepy car).

Maybe it was because it was on a workday, or maybe because most of the kids had to be packed off to bed, but by about 9pm everything was more or less done, and we retired home for our very own Dance Central party. Let me tell you, it’s really fun (and kind of surreal) to actually be mirroring Dance Central both in movement as well as costume, and I think we had some sort of tear in the space-time-awesomeness continuum during that Miss Aubrey vs Miss Aubrey dance-off.

Apologies for the synch issues in some of the videos; might have been compression gremlins.

Anyway, all in all, Halloween is a great time to get together, dress up and have fun. And when the street runs from the really well dressed to the amazingly ghetto, you also don’t need to worry about your costume being all there. All you need is friends to be silly together with you. 😉

Wonder what next year’s theme is going to be….
