The Halo universe is set to blow up in a major way with the introduction of the upcoming Halo Wars 2 – and here’s your chance to get some gametime ahead of the official launch on Feb 21.
Halo Wars 2 is the upcoming real-time strategy game set to be released on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. This Blitz multiplayer beta will be held from Jan 20 to 30, and will feature 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 gameplay on the map “Proving Grounds”. The game is developed by 343 Industries and RTS veterans Creative Assembly (creators of the Total War series), so there’s some good pedigree there.
The Blitz Mode will be a little different from your usual RTS – it’ll combine deck building with RTS gameplay. It’s not the newest idea – Singapore-based Rock Nano Global released their own spin on this last year with ArmaGallant – but lets just say that it’s not something that has really caught on as a gameplay mechanic yet.
Anyway, the Halo Wars 2 Blitz Mode beta will feature all Faction Leaders and Blitz cards that will be available at launch, so this is as close as the release experience (for Blitz) that’ you’ll get. The developers will also throw in daily and weekly challenges, as they hope to stress test their systems.
Halo Wars 2 will be released Feb 21 on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs for S$59.99. The Ultimate Edition is priced at S$79.99, and will include an early access token, a Season Pass token and the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition token.
