The Road to Comic-Con Begins… Now!
San Diego Comic-Con 2010 begins, officially on Thursday, 22 July. That means we’ve got five weeks.
Five. Weeks. To our first Comic-Con.
It’s also a time of many other firsts for all of us at HereBeGeeks.com, and we’re going to keep a record of it all here on this site. We’ll chronicle the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations of getting there, and of course, our sheer joy at being there.
So join us as we begin our Road to San Diego Comic-Con right here!
Comic-Con has been described as the Mecca for geeks, and that is a perfect description of what is probably the biggest four days each year in all geekdom. Where else would you be able to see trailers and sneaks of all the films you NEED to watch or, more importantly, the latest comics that you’d all want to catch? Where else would you be able to rub shoulders with all the actors, directors, artists and writers you know and love? All under one glorious geeky convention centre roof!
At HereBeGeeks, we’ve started planning this EPIC JOURNEY months back, when we got the tickets in March.
Yes, we can feel some of you recoiling in horror: Only in March? And to a certain extent, that is true, we only have day 1 and day 4 tickets, but that’s because it was a much bigger decision for all three of us. It’s not just another holiday for us, oh no. Indeed, Comic-Con may very well mark the end of one glorious chapter of our geeks lives, and the beginning of a whole new saga for each of us.
Nothing was really confirmed back then – but then the ideas begin to build steam. Slowly but surely, we got excited about planning the itinerary, deciding where to go, where to stay, who to meet. We’re planning a whole trip despite the fact that we only have tickets to see half the big event we’re going to. And you know what? We’re going anyway. On a wing and a prayer – trying to find ways to get tickets. We’re going to SDCC at any cost – and here’s where our story begins.
