For the third year running, Books Kinokuniya leads the way in promoting geek culture!

Adam Glass

In fact, their Free Comic Book Day celebrations start a day earlier – TODAY! – with the special appearance of Adam Glass at their main store in Ngee Ann City! Fans will have the rare opportunity to meet the outgoing writer of DC Comics’ New 52 Suicide Squad. Glass is also writer and executive producer on the long-running cult series Supernatural for the past three seasons. He actually got his start in Marvel Comics, co-writing three miniseries, Luke Cage: Noir, Deadpool: Suicide Kings and Deadpool: Pulp with Mike Benson, all of which are also available in the store. Here in Singapore for the first time, Glass will be signing from 7.30pm till 8.30pm tonight so don’t miss this opportunity to welcome him to our country!

On Saturday morning, Kinokuniya will be giving away a set of free comics (it is not stated how many comics are in each set) to all Kinokuniya Privilege Cardholders at all three of their Singapore stores! Their main store in Ngee Ann City is the place to be however, with events planned to last the whole day from 10am till 5.30pm.

If you’re an avid photographer, or if you’re an awesome parent, you’ll want to drop by and meet the cosplayers! Our friends from the Neo Tokyo Project will be there between 10am to 12noon, followed by members of the 501st Legion – Singapore Garrison between 12.30pm and 1.30pm, and last but not least, our friends from FightSaber will be around between 4.30pm and 5.30pm after celebrating Star Wars Day earlier at Nanyang Polytechnic.

Pick up the book for S$20 and get their autographs! The book is the latest offering in the graphic novel imprint of publishers Epigram Books.

All Kinokuniya events will be at the Crossroads section of the store.

Shawn Yap, has created two quirky prints for the event, one inspired by Marvel Comics’ latest movie Iron Man 3, entitled “The Iron Butlers” and the other inspired by Marvel’s future blockbuster movie Guardians of the Galaxy, entitled “We’re Da Guardians, Mate!” and features the soon to be classic line “Drax is not Hulk”.

Keatopia aka Ong Ean Keat will be selling a print of “Bleeding Edge Armour” which won the Grand Prize in the Threadless Iron Man Challenge. The artwork is a collaborative effort with his wife Eunice Xu who digitally coloured over Keat’s pencils and inks. It features a dynamic Iron Man beating down the larger Iron Monger. You can also buy his sketchbook at $25 each.

Last but definitely not least, the uber-talented Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, co-founder and Creative Director of Imaginary Friends Studios, will be working on a black cover of Action Comics #1. It’s rare to see him at work, so don’t miss this fantastic opportunity.

In addition to the guest artists, Invasion! will also be running some special promotions including a FREE hardcover Iron Man: Extremis, the story arc that inspired Iron Man 3 when you spend above $100 on Iron Man-related products in store and, if you buy any DC Comics hardcover or trade paperback item from the store, you get a Justice League of America #1 State Variant cover of your choice, FREE. This is on top of some crazy comics sales, so get ready to spend!

Invasion! opens at 1pm, but the festivities only begin at 2pm.
