It’s slightly over 24 hours to the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention 2012 (STGCC) and we’re all kinds of enthusiastic for this year’s event at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

One of the exciting newcomers to STGCC this year are local independent publisher Epigram Books. Well known for their lavishly eye-catching book covers (their parent company is the award-winning design firm Epigram) and their commitment to showcasing some of Singapore literature’s best and finest (including the bestselling children’s series The Diary of Amos Lee), Epigram Books celebrates their first year anniversary of incorporation with the launch of their new graphic novels imprint.

The first graphic novels under this imprint are from some of Singapore’s most talented creators and household names in their own right, including Sonny Liew, Dave Chua, Koh Hong Teng and Miel. While four of the five titles will only be officially launched in November this year, with Liew’s book scheduled for an April 2013 release, nonetheless, Epigram Books will be giving away free sample booklets for each of the novels at STGCC at their booth. You can also find these samples in PDF form at their website, epigrambooks.sg.

In addition, they will also be bringing together all the creators of the five books for a panel on September 2nd, Sunday morning at 10.30am to give some valuable insight into the the local comic industry, as well as to inspire others to give the medium a try. The panel will be hosted by the self-proclaimed Comic Man, Adan Jimenez. More details in the e-flyer below!

Peter Lin

His teenage years spent nursing a giant man-crush on Steve Rogers, the first Captain America, Peter naturally found himself drawn to many other heroes who depicted strong, manly qualities, including the honour-bound warrior Worf, first Klingon in Starfleet, and the muscular rock hard abs of The Thing.
